The Sharpshooter Who Couldn't Shoot Straight
When a backyard barbeque in San Francisco’s Mission District turned into a brawl, the police who responded shot an Army veteran in the butt, claiming he’d fired six shots at them. But somehow, this highly trained expert sharpshooter not only missed the cops from close range, he didn’t even manage to hit the huge double-garage doors behind the cops. Could he be the worst marksman in U.S. Army history? Defense attorney Richard Hodge didn’t think so.

A backyard barbecue in the Hispanic community of San Francisco’s Mission District got rowdy, and ultimately turned into a brawl. Neighbors called the police, a gun appeared, and an Army veteran was shot. Fortunately, the bullet hit his butt and the vet recovered from his injuries. But his troubles weren’t over: police claimed they shot at him in self defense after he fired six shots at the two officers.
Something didn’t add up. This veteran was a highly trained expert Army marksman. The police claimed he’d taken a shooting stance, raised the weapon, and fired six shots at close range ... but missed all six shots. On top of that, the police were standing in front of a big, white double garage door. So where were the bullets? Was the defendant the worst Army marksman in history, an “expert” who couldn’t even hit a garage door at close range?
